Ask And You WILL Receive

John 16:23-24 says:

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.  Until now you have not asked for anything in my name.  ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE, and your joy will be complete.”

Is this verse one of the ones that is the key to why ALOT of our prayers seem to go unanswered?  It kind of sounds like it, doesn’t it?  MAYBE the key to victorious living is in changing the way we think about God and what He is willing to give us.  MAYBE we need to change the way we are praying to ask for stuff.  Another verse says “Come BOLDLY to the throne of grace, and KNOW that you receive!”.  ALOT of people that I’ve known over the years were ANYTHING but bold in their prayers.

Sounds like more research is needed on this!!!

Something To Think About

I have been watching Kenneth Copeland’s Believer’s Voice Of Victory television program on the internet the last few days.  Kenneth Copeland and Creflo Dollar have been talking about seeds and harvest, and prosperity.  Kenneth Copeland made a comment that he had heard Charles Capps say something years ago that stuck with him.  He said that Charles Capps had said that God had said to him “I have been trying to teach my people that they can have what they say, but my people have been saying what they have.”

Still Reading

Yep, in case anyone is wondering, I HAVE been reading my Bible FAITHFULLY…..EVERY day.  I finished John, in the New Testament today….and I finished Ezekiel in the Old Testament today too!!!

Have been listening to sermons on the internet still.  I haven’t had any MAJOR words from God hit me…yet…but I HAVE received SOME insight into a couple of things, that I won’t really go into now.

Faith…..what is it?  How does it work?  Do you have to have faith in the blessings of God before they will manifest themselves in your life?  Or do you just have to have faith in God?  What is the definition of “faith”?  I don’t have the answers to those questions….yet….but feel led to find out, at least as much as possible.

Prayer….what makes it work?  Again, I’m not sure, but I WILL find out!!!

Coincidence?  Maybe…but then again, it MIGHT be that the Word of God ACTUALLY WORKS for ME like it does for Kenneth Copeland and other mighty people of God.  What am I babbling about, you are probably asking yourself?  Last night, while I was trying to get Malachi to get pajamas on, so we could brush his teeth and get him to bed, he was running up and down the hall and being his normal-for-these-days-self by not listening.  Well, there was suddenly quiet, and then a tear-filled “Mom”.  He had stubbed one of this toes on the floor in the hallway and cut it open and it was bleeding.  He was controlling his tears, at THAT point, so I told him to sit down in the bathroom, and I’d get a band-aide for it.  Well, I get the band-aide out, and he started bawling, literally.  You would have thought I was cutting his toe off.  He wouldn’t stop crying.  I got the band-aide on, but he was still crying, uncontrollably.  I sat in the middle of the bathroom floor with him sitting on my lap for a couple of minutes.  Then he said he was going to Grandpa’s bed, and off he goes.  He gets up on the bed….he’s still crying.  I’m trying to calm him down, and the usual things that normally work are not doing ANY good.  If ANYTHING, they are making him cry more.  So, I start singing “Amazing Grace”.  OH MY GOD!!!  Talk about SET him off.  He went beserk, telling me he didn’t want me to sing.  Now this is from a child who LOVES music and singing…remember this.  I continue singing for a few minutes….Malachi cries more.  Finally, before I really knew what I was saying, I said “In the NAME of Jesus, Satan, you GET your hands off of MY boy, and you GET out of him NOW!  You have NO authority here…now you take your depression and GET!!!”  Malachi settled right down, and I didn’t have ANY more trouble with him crying uncontrollably.  After it was all said and done, I remembered the story of the child in the New Testament who’s Father had brought him to Jesus to get rid of the demon that was throwing his son into fires and convulsions and such.  Coincidence?  I’m not sure….I’d LIKE to think NOT…but I was to the point last night that, nothing else had worked, so let’s try something different.  God’s Word DOES say that we overcome the Devil “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony”.  It also says “Resist the Devil and he WILL flee”.  Do you have to have faith in the words that they WILL work?  Or just faith in God?  More questions that I need to find the answers too!!!

More later…..

Trying Again….

Well, here I am….again….to say that, once again, I am ATTEMPTING to get back into the Word EVERY day.

I’ve been watching Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Southwest Believer’s Convention this week, via internet.  Oh, how I would LOVE to be there in person!!!  A couple of the different speakers this week say that, sometimes, people get to a point where there is NO way out in the physical realm…where there is VERY little hope in the physical realm….and that, if you have reached that point, you NEED to turn to God and He WILL make you victorious.  Well, there are SEVERAL things that have been said in the last couple of days that have hit pretty close to home.  So I am ATTEMPTING, once more, to immerse myself in the presence of God.

On July 31st, the first day of the convention, I read Matthew 27 & 28.

On August 1st, I read Mark 9-11 and Jeremiah 51 and 52.  Mark is where I stopped reading the LAST time I was reading, about a month ago, though I didn’t do a thought and a verse for ALL of those chapters.  Jeremiah is where I am or was in reading through the Bible from cover to cover.

On August 2nd, I read Mark 12 and 13 and Lamentations 1-5.

Today, so far, I have read Mark 13-16 and Ezekiel 1-11.

Let’s Try This Again

Hey…I KNOW it's been awhile, but things at my house have been LESS than good…and getting worse REAL quick.  Need LOTS of prayers at THIS point.  Satan has put blinders on ALOT of people around here, so they can't see what is going on with my ex and his girlfriend, and it's causing me more trouble than I ever DREAMED I'd have over my 4 year old son.  If you want more details, drop me a note, and I can e-mail you a few more details.  Need LOTS of prayers, though!!!

NOT sure where to turn….or what to do anymore about anything.  Feel like I'm waging a battle all alone, and like I'm on the losing end.  But this is a battle that I can't AFFORD to lose, so I have NO choice but to fight…and win, somehow….

Have been TRYING to turn this over to God.  But I still feel like I'm on hold, kind of.  But I AM trying…..Soooo, with that in mind, please note that I read Matthew 26 today.

Matthew 26

My thought for the day is:  Even though Jesus was the Son of God, did you notice how he struggled with what was going to happen to him?  His flesh TRIED to take over by allowing Him to feel anguish, but His desire to obey God was what He drew on for strength.

Can't decide on a verse for the day….

Prayer Request:  PLEASE pray that Satan will be bound and cast out of our lives, and the lying spirits that he is trying to use to steal my son into his territory.  And please also pray that the blinders will be taken off of people, so they can see the truth…about my ex AND his girlfriend.  God's Word says that you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free….We NEED the truth to be revealed right NOW!!!

Trying To Get Caught Up Again!!

Matthew 20
My thought for the day is:
In THIS chapter, Jesus shows us some illustrations about the Kingdom of Heaven.  And He says “The last shall be first, and the first, last”.  Interesting thought there!!!

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 20:28
Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

————————————————————-

Matthew 21
My thought for the day is:
Have you ever wondered what the REAL meaning to alot of the stories that Jesus tells is?

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 21:21
Truly, if you have faith, and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

————————————————————-

Matthew 22
My thought for the day is:
In this chapter, Jesus tells us which of the commandments are the greatest, and that if we obey those, then we WILL be obeying the rest of them.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 22:32
I AM the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob….God is NOT the God of the dead, but of the living.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

————————————————————-

Matthew 23
My thought for the day is:
In this chapter, Jesus tells us that, even if we tithe, we SHOULD NOT leave the “more” important things undone.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 23:11&12
The more lowly your service to others, the greater you are.  To be the greatest, be a servant.  But those who think themselves great shall be disappointed and humbled; and those who humble themselves shall be exalted.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

————————————————————-

Matthew 24
My thought for the day is:
Jesus tells us SOME of the “end time signs” in this chapter.  And He warns us to be watchful for His return.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 24:36
But no one knows the date and hour when the end will be–not even the angels.  No, nor even God’s Son.  Only the Father knows.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

————————————————————-

Matthew 25
My thought for the day is:
In THIS chapter, Jesus teaches us to be careful with our resources, and not waste them, NOR forget them.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 25:29
For the man who uses well what he is given shall be given more, and he shall have abundance.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That court will go smoothly for me on Friday, and that some problems with the ex and the ex’s girlfriend will be ironed out….ONCE and for ALL!!

Okay, all caught up…..*sighs*…AGAIN!!!

Forgive Me For My Absence….

I was GOING to stay on track the day before yesterday, but about the time I was going to do my post, my ex-husband and his live-in girlfriend sent me a message via Yahoo making threats about TAKING my son this weekend….*tired sighs*…Needless to say, I thought that was a TAD more important that the time.

Matthew 17
My thought for the day is:
In this chapter, we see evidence that even the 12 disciples were short on faith some days.  They couldn’t heal a boy that was possessed by a demon.  In a way, that is a NICE thing to remember for when WE get short on faith.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 17:20
For if you had faith even as small as a tiny mustard seed you could say to this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would go far away.  Nothing is impossible.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That my ex doesn’t let his live-in girlfriend dig him a hole that he can’t get out of, and that they won’t make this a mess by taking it to court.

————————————————————-

Matthew 18
My thought for the day is:
We find that Jesus is AGAIN using a small child as an example for getting into the Kingdom of Heaven.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 18:5
And any of you who welcomes a little child like this because you are mine, is welcoming me and caring for me.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That my ex doesn’t let his live-in girlfriend dig him a hole that he can’t get out of, and that they won’t make this a mess by taking it to court.

————————————————————-

Matthew 19
My thought for the day is:
In this chapter, we find teachings on divorce and riches.  I find the problem with ALOT of people having riches, as in money, these days, is that they don’t know how to live without it.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 19:26
With God, everything is possible.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That my ex doesn’t let his live-in girlfriend dig him a hole that he can’t get out of, and that they won’t make this a mess by taking it to court.

A Little Late…But Here They Are…

Okay, I’m FINALLY here….forgive me for being absent the last couple of days.  Have been having some “moments” around here.

Matthew 14
My thought for the day is:
In the beginning of this chapter, it tells of how Herodias’ daughter danced for King Herod and then was “rewarded” by the King.  The King did not want to give her John The Baptist’s head when she asked for it, but he felt he had too, because he had vowed to give her ANYTHING she wanted.  I think this shows us that we NEED to be VERY careful with our words, so we don’t end up in a similar situation of promising something we REALLY don’t want to give up.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 14:30
But when he looked around at the high waves, he was terrified and began to sink.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That God will give me the WANT that I need to be CONSISTENT in things….like this.

————————————————————-

Matthew 15
My thought for the day is:
In THIS chapter, it tells us WITH PROOF that Jesus did NOT come to just “save” the Jews as SOME denominations believe.  THAT means ALOT of us, in MY mind.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 15:13
Every plant not planted by my Father shall be rooted up.

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That God will give me the WANT that I need to be CONSISTENT in things….like this.

————————————————————-

Matthew 16
My thought for the day is:
Jesus gives us a teaching in THIS chapter that we NEED to remember ALWAYS in THIS day and age….Beware of wrong teachings.  There are SOOOOO many out there in the world today that “preach” but if you read your Bible and KNOW what it says, you’ll realize that what was “preached” is NOT what the Bible says.

My verse for the day is:
Matthew 16:26
What profit is there if you gain the whole world–and lose eternal life?  What can be compared with the value of eternal life?

My prayer/praise for the day is:
That God will give me the WANT that I need to be CONSISTENT in things….like this.

Okay, folks….ALL CAUGHT UP, I think!!!  NOW, let’s see if I can STAY that way!!!
